Gathered
Things worth sharing, from one life to another.
FROM THE MAHALO COMMUNITY
The best things have away of finding their way from one person to another.
A book you couldn't stop thinking about. A recipe you've made so many times you hardly need to look at it anymore. A podcast episode you sent to three friends. A song tied to a memory. Something tucked away in your home because of the person it once belonged to.
These are the things we want to hear about.
Mahalo has always been about learning from one another, sharing what we've discovered and paying a little more attention to the things that make life good.
So pull up a chair.
We'd love to know what you have to share. You don't have to be a writer, photographer or expert to contribute. Just bring something you think is worth passing along.
Some contributions may be featured throughout Mahalo—in The Collection, Worth a Listen, Field Notes, our Bookshop shelves and Gathered, our monthly collection of things shared from around our table. We may also share some of our favorites on Mahalo’s social media, so these stories and discoveries can travel a little farther.

ON OUR BOOKSHELVES
Tell us what we should read next.
Maybe it's the book you recommend to everyone. Something that changed the way you think. A novel you stayed up much too late finishing. Or an old favorite you return to every few years.
Tell us the title and a little about why you loved it.
We'll gather community recommendations on our Mahalo Bookshop.org shelves so we can all discover what people around our table are reading.

THINGS WE KEEP
Some things are too meaningful to let go.
Tell us about something you've held onto.
Your grandmother's china. Your dad's old thermos. A handwritten recipe card. A letter you've carried through three moves.
Sometimes the most ordinary things hold the biggest stories.
Tell us what you've kept—and why you still have it.

FROM OUR KITCHENS
Share something you make again and again.
The soup everyone asks you for. Your grandmother's cookies. A five-ingredient dinner that has saved more Tuesday nights than you can count. The dish that always shows up at family gatherings.
We aren't looking for perfect food or complicated recipes.
We want the things you actually make—and the stories that come with them.

WORTH A LISTEN
Heard something good lately?
Maybe a podcast episode made you rethink something. Made you laugh. Taught you something you didn't know. Kept you company on a long drive. Or made you immediately text someone, You need to listen to this.
Pass it along.
Tell us what you listened to and why you think someone else might love it too.

THE COMMUNITY PLAYLIST
Add a song to this month's soundtrack.
Every month we'll choose a new theme and build a playlist together—one song at a time.
Maybe we're sharing songs that remind us of home. Songs our parents played. Songs made for driving with the windows down. Songs that got us through something. Songs we know every single word to.
We'll give you the theme.
You bring the song.
And if there's a story behind your choice, we'd love to hear that too.
SEPTEMBERS PLAYLIST THEME:
Take the Long Way Home
What song makes you want to keep driving just a little longer?

FROM WHERE YOU ARE
Show us a little piece of your world.
Morning coffee on the porch. Your neighborhood farmers market. The trail you walk every day. Dinner around your kitchen table. The view from your window. A tradition your family has kept for years.
You don't have to go somewhere extraordinary to find something worth sharing.
Send us a photograph and tell us a little about what we're seeing.

THINGS WE'VE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY
What has life taught you?
Maybe it's something your grandmother taught you.
A tradition you grew up with.
Something you learned while traveling.
A different way of eating, gathering, resting,
celebrating or looking at the world.
Or simply something you understand now that you didn't ten years ago.
We're interested in the things we learn from living—and especially the things we can learn from one another.

DON'T SEE YOUR THING HERE?
That's okay.
Tell us anyway.
Not everything worth sharing fits neatly into a category.
Maybe you have a story we haven't thought to ask for yet. A person we should know about. A family tradition. A small business doing something wonderful. A place worth visiting. An idea you'd love to explore with the community.
Send it our way.
You never know where a good conversation might lead.

COMING TOGETHER EACH MONTH
A few good things from around our table.
Once a month, we'll gather some of what has been shared throughout the Mahalo community and bring it together in one beautiful place.
A book worth reading.
Something delicious from someone's kitchen.
A song with a story behind it.
A podcast for your next walk.
An object someone has kept for forty years.
A photograph from another corner of the world.
A thought we haven't been able to stop thinking about.
We're calling it Gathered.
Part community journal, part collection of recommendations, part love letter to all the ordinary things that make a life.
Someday, we hope Gathered might even become something you can hold in your hands.
For now, we'll make it together right here.
So, bring what you have.
A story. A recipe. A photograph. A song.
Something you've learned.
Something you've loved.
Something you think another person might be glad to discover.
That's how a community becomes more than a collection of people.
We share what we have.
We listen to one another.
And little by little, we create something none of us could have made alone.
Pull up a chair. There's room for you here.
